There Are Small Birds Sleeping In The Wisteria
This was a piece painted after my husband was surprised by small birds in our wisteria. It was in response to understanding that domestic subjects were a valid subject choice. I had fallen into the trap of thinking that all art must be "meaningful" and say "deep" things; being exposed to Naive art for the first time helped me to understand that capturing tiny moments in your life is just as legitimate as trying to convey great themes or meanings. This is a truly joyful painting that makes me smile every time I see it.
